Why You Never Pitch to A-Rod with a 3-1 Count!

By: Jason Cunningham (8/4/2005)

I was putting my key into the door when Alex Rodriguez of the New York Yankees came to bat in the ninth inning this evening, while he and his teammates squared off against the Cleveland Indians. My dad told me that A-Rod had worked the count to 3 balls and 1 strike. Cleveland's closer Bob Wickman was on the mound, but before he delivered his next pitch, I instructed my dad that he should walk Alex Rodriguez. My dad agreed with me, however in an instance, my dad," It's gone, another home run."

I was disgusted, because there was one out in the ninth inning. That home run by A-Rod tied the game 3-3. The next hitter, Jason Giambi also homered, and Yankees went on to win 4-3 over the Indians, as New York's Mario Rivera recorded his 27 save.
