Would Baseball Like
Barry Bonds to Retire?
By: Jason Cunningham (7-20-2006)
Barry Bonds, one of the
greatest sluggers in MLB history, is facing more criticism than anyone in
America. With a possible federal indictment headed his direction, does MLB
want Barry Bonds to retire in the sunset.
In four days, San Francisco
Giant Barry Bonds will turn 42 years old. Over the last couple of years, Bonds
has been hampered by injury, and a key person of interest in the Balco steroid
investigation. After this season, it appears to be a certainty that Bonds will
not be a member of the San Francisco Giants.
Baseball appears to moving
beyond Barry Bonds. Take a look at the All-Star Game, or the advertisements of
baseball players of today. MLB has been careful to promote the future of the
game. Bonds appears to be on the verge of being charged with perjury, in
regards to the Balco investigation and tax evasion. Maybe, MLB is leaving
Bonds out to dry, so that the slugger decides to retire.
